Vlad - 

A Yugoslav refugee and ex-soldier with a past threatening to catch up with him. It does.

Dorothy -

Dorothy is a therapist who can’t sort out her mother, her feelings, or her love for life.  What she really needs is a therapist. 

Trevor – John Hannah

John Hannah is Trevor, a depressed, suicidal philosophy professor. Having wasted his life wondering ‘Why?’, he wants Vlad to help him to ‘end it all’ and release him from his hellish existence – academia.

Mrs Mills – Joanna Lumley

An impoverished, fading debutante whose husband languishes in a Bolivian jail while she attempts to ‘manage’. She runs her B&B with a rod of iron, and has a vocabulary to match.

Baz – Danny Dyer

Danny Dyer is Baz, a builder who think he’s a developer… but he really wants to be an assassin. He gets his chance, but becomes Vlad’s bitch in the process.

Sharon -

Baz’s sensuous trophy wife, though her hatred of her husband makes her less of a catch.   She shows Trevor there is more to enjoy in life than the intellect.

Slavisha – Velibor Topic

Rad Lazar is Slavisha.  Ex soldier in Vlad’s regiment, ex dentist, currently a builder living the good life off the black economy.

Sulejman –

Once a friend, then an enemy, now a harbinger of change, as he travels across Europe to collect on a debt of honour with Vlad.

Zoran –

Vlad’s brother, artistic and governed by a severely overactive libido.

Bogdan –

Vlad and Zoran’s grandfather.  A man weary of life, but unable to let go of the past.
